Seen On the BBC… And What We Can Do.

Tonight I saw a heart wrenching and frankly outrageous expose on the wildlife illegal “Trade” going on without much news coverage nor Governmental attention.

This feature primarily focused on the Cheetah. How much they are in demand as babies and can earn a wildlife pillager more than $50,000 for a live cub.

These beautiful animals are now less than 7,000 in the wild. They are highly endangered and have been for the past decade. And even in ideal wildlife protection conditions, they still have to be carefully monitored in order to keep this important species alive.

The conditions of transport for these stolen babies is abysmal. They are often dead on arrival, having starved or become dehydrated in hot crates.

What airline would ignore these cargo boxes? The poachers would not have any “Trade” if the airlines and cargo companies would step up and become vigilant in their standards of business ethics.

Every one of us has a duty to write, call, or email our elected officials and to do the same to our news reporting outlets and Investigative Journalists.

We, as humans, have to stop and think what the reality of these innocent victims must be like. To become a victim without a voice, no one to save us, no choice in being taken from our home, and without our natural habitat, sunshine, food, water, our family and our dignity.

What world we are heading for if this issue alone does not stop? It is something that makes me wonder why humans were created at all when you come face-to-face with inhumane, ignorant behavior that has two major reasons for existence: 1.) Blind Greed 2.) Unconscionable disregard for the destruction of all life on this Earth.

What horrible mindset could justify such choices in their lives? The world and certainly our nature [which all life depends upon to exist] would be a whole lot better off without such reckless, wretched individuals on this planet.

I have always questioned what kind of mother or father could raise any one child to disrespect other Living Beings and our ecosystem that we need for every breathe we take, all food we eat, clean water, and even joy in this life.

Doing one thing a day, or even taking 10 minutes on a weekend to write an email, and join a rescue organization that is actually “boots on the ground” and truly doing good with your sponsorship can, collectively, become a big movement for something proactive, healing to this world, and becoming a Voice for Peace.
