Part I: Nuclear Energy = Silent, Invisible Killer

“We must go through a natural revolution if we are to survive on earth. We need to change people’s perceptions. If there’s no environment, there’s no human race. We are in a state of global denial.” —- Ted Turner

The two segments of my show aired this week are both relating to our incredible challenge as humans to live life with consciousness, and to really organize ourselves together to start a revolution to take back our world from the daily destruction of leaching carcinogens and invisible killers.

My first Guest, Kevin Kamps of Beyond Nuclear, www.beyondnuclear.org, gave my listeners some horrifying facts about the dangers of Nuclear Energy.

Most Nuclear plants are privately owned, FOR PROFIT enterprises. However, outrageously, they are “held harmless” from their toxic and highly lethal nuclear leakage, mistakes, meltdowns, etc.

In other words, they keep all of the profits from their business, but they are never held responsible nor accountable for the harm they cause people, the planet, our water, air, food, and all life on Earth.

I cannot think of a more scary industry, as no one is immune or exempt to the LEGAL toxic dumping that routinely takes place at ALL Nuclear Reactors around the globe: Strontium 90 is just ONE of the many lethal, highly carcinogenic, radioactive, and DNA DESTROYING waste products that gets dumped into our waterways every year.

These Gene altering, cancer causing, blood poisoning substances are invisible to the naked eye. But they are leached into our groundwater, and contaminate our soil, and thereby contaminate all life on this Earth.

Is this acceptable? What have we been reduced to as Citizens, Parents, Taxpayers, and Voters?

Why do we vote into office individuals who are betraying us with Bribes from special interest groups that seek to profit from poisoning the entire planet? How is this even possible to a rational thinking person…. it defies all logic.

But it is a reality. We, as the innocent receivers of all of this unreasonable responsibility on our shoulders, need to stand up NOW—- IN the WAKE of the Fukushima disaster—- and demand immediate shut down of this toxic waste industry and start to demand Sustainable, Renewable, SAFE Energy for all consumers.

Wow. This should have been invested in a long, long time ago. Why the delay in supporting the renewable energy sector? They simply did not have the tax breaks,or the Washington funding to turn around and give big donations to Politicians.

I cannot believe that this is what most Politicians have allowed themselves to be reduced to: Whores. They will say anything to get elected, they even sound quite reasonable and even progressive in their words and promises…. but what I have been astonished by OVER AND OVER AGAIN is the reneging and outright amnesia that the Washington corruption brings on BOTH SIDES of the aisle.

Personally, I find Obama’s favors to all of the dirty “energy” industries, the Oil/Gas, the Nuclear and the Coal industries have gotten a big PASS GO CARD from Obama and his entire unqualified, ‘cozy’ Administration.

Outrageous. Didn’t this guy campaign heavily on being ‘different’ and ‘transparent’ and even ‘Eco-friendly’? I recall this was certainly the case. But if you look behind the facade, you see that he was generously supported by all of these dirty industries. Let us not forget the dirty Agri-businesses like the cattle industry, too. They have also gotten an unthinkable PASS GO CARD from Obama and his wretched kingpin, Mr. Ken Salazar.

Gross. The ugliness of this reality is horrifying. You see happy, smiling faces on television, but when you truly listen and then do even a little bit of research, you find a whole different, dirty, back-room dealing story that is enough to make you want to storm Washington with a Revolution.

Is this what it will take to bring the lasting, honest “Change” that all of us had in mind? I think it is exactly what it will take.

The letters, the phone calls, the polite Taxpayer inquiries into the matter get us nowhere. I cannot tell you the volume of “form letters” that I get from my elected officials who are increasingly out of touch with the realities of the imminent dangers in dealing with Nuclear, life altering energy.

A 'Legal' Nuclear Dump in Idaho. Is this irresponsible 'waste management' acceptable?

Part II: Cork. The wonder product.

Cork Harvesting Keeps The Tree Alive And Our Forests, Air, and All Life Benefit

“Anything else you’re interested in is not going to happen if you can’t breathe the air or drink the water. Don’t sit this one out. Do something.”
—- Carl Sagan

My Guest in the second part of the show was Patrick Spencer of The Cork Forest Conservation Alliance, www.corkforest.org

Cork is the ONE wood product where you never cut the tree down. You don’t have to kill the tree, destroy forests and the ecology [and all of the other life that depends upon our forests] to harvest the wood product.

Cork is one of the oldest, most sustainable products on Earth.

Cork is resistant to mold, insects, insulates sound and heat, and inhibits fire.

Cool. It is also affordable, comes in many different colors, shapes, and sizes should you decide to use it for flooring…. and it feels good to stand on, walk on and easy to care for.

Cork is also biodegradable AND recyclable!

What is not to like about this “Wonder” in our world!?!!!!

When I did a general search on the internet, I found everything from cork floors, insulation, jewelry, handbags, dash boards, furniture, textiles…. and the list goes on!

Our cork forests absorb CO2, approximately 20 million tons of carbon, every year. We are not ‘slashing and burning’ to harvest it, and we are supporting an ancient practice thousands of years old that supports the Green Economy when we purchase cork products.

Thank you to my Guest, Patrick Spencer, for sharing the wonders of Cork with us. I had no idea that NASA uses cork to insulate the Space Shuttle from the extreme temperature changes in space!

Gee, if it is able to insulate the Space Shuttle so perfectly, how about our homes, cars, and businesses?
