When my much-loved 17 year old cat was approaching the advanced Renal Disease stage, I was blindly believing in an egotistical, misguided Vet who repeatedly told me that subcutaneous fluids were “not necessary” and that he did not ‘believe in them’ because, according to him, “it doesn’t work.”
After two months of being rushed off the phone by this self-proclaimed “Classical Homeopathic and Holistic” Vet, where my inquiries of her needing more water and desperately trying to drink as she would cry were totally ignored, brushed off and downplayed…. I finally sobered up out of my brainwashed state and rushed her to another Animal Hospital one weekend in the Spring of 2005.
My baby, named Furchild Chapin, was and is my Soul Mate, Best Friend, Companion, and eternal love.
She was given intravenous I.V. right away, and stayed in this hospital for 6 days.
I made the mistake of blindly trusting the first doctor, mainly because I am Holistic myself and forgot to recognize how advertising, marketing, and PR can make a bad, uncaring, criminal Vet look like anything wonderful.
My interview on September 27, 2010, with Journalist and Animal Companion Activist Julie Catalano, revealed how COMMON and pervasive this bad medicine truly is in America.
Why? is my question. Why would any Vet deny and omit important protocols from an innocent animal?
Julie had eerily similar experiences with a Vet down in Texas. The abuse, harassment, overt arrogance, and blaming the victim were all horrors that Julie experienced….. and I also experienced and thousands of others who have found a voice on the internet…. much to the chagrin of the corrupt cronies who put themselves onto State Vet Boards.

Julie Catalano has made it her life’s mission to educate and awaken the consumer to the truth behind the facade that is literally out-of-control in all of the medical field, and surprisingly in a high percentage in the Veterinary Industry.
Make no mistake, your cat or dog [or other beloved animal companion] is all too often just another paycheck for some ignorant practices. Your feelings, questions, VALUES, and requests mean nothing to these greed, and ego-driven house of horrors.
No kidding here. The stories are totally horrifying.

Arm yourself with knowledge, and get yourself an ADVOCATE, meaning: get yourself a second and third opinion from an unrelated, healthy-minded, kind-hearted, and totally knowledgeable Vet who will look over everything and advise you. It could save your Pet’s life.
Bad Vets are counterfeit practitioners who put on a “happy” external face to the world, but behind the scenes is a shop of horrors. INVESTIGATE. DO YOUR BACKGROUND CHECKS. ASK QUESTIONS. RESEARCH. GET AN ADVOCATE.
The truth behind the Vet industry is so ugly that every animal lover must stand up. Now.

It is time to overhaul an industry that has deceived the public into thinking that they are safe at the Vet with their beloved, one-and-only family’s Best Friend.
“When the student is ready the teacher will appear, sometimes camouflaged as a four-legged companion.”

Last week, my interview with Allyson Halm, the President of Adopt A Dog located in Greenwich, CT and Armonk, NY highlighted the incredible need we have in every town, city, and State in this United States of America TO ADOPT and DO NOT BUY a pet from either a Breeder or a Pet Store.
There are too many dogs and cats, puppies and kittens killed in Shelters every year because of Breeders, horrifying “Puppy Mills” and irresponsible people who allow their pets to reproduce.
Adopt A Dog sponsored the outstanding event this Saturday, in Greenwich, called “Puttin’ On The Dog.” So many wonderful, loving animals were there to greet everyone at this Festival…. and I was so honored to have the opportunity to be a Judge for “The Best Costume” Contest!
Check out Adopt A Dog’s Web Site and see the BEST FRIENDS that are waiting for adoption!

See “Buddy” one of three Dogs [and four kittens] I rescued, with the amazing help of Adopt A Dog, Northwind Kennels, Pilots and Paws, Angel Dogs, and the many Volunteers in Virginia. He’s a sweetheart who is ready for adoption!
